GMP 1:12 1999 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R #2 GM Goodwrench Service 24 Hours of Daytona.

Finally, this beauty fell into my lap for under $200USD shipped, which is about a going price for 1:18 AutoArt model.

Серёга, тебя что, на "крупняк" потянуло??? :D :) :)

Not really, it's just right now I can get better deals on 1:12 GMP models than their 1:18 equivalents.

For example, I was trying to obtain 1:18 "silver" Goodwrench Vette for ages, but the prices were just creeping up to a point where 1:12 far more detailed GMP version was cheaper than the 1:18 AA one.

I'm waiting for 1:12 GMP versions of Ford GT40 MKII to dip below $200USD shipped so I can buy them in lieu of EXOTO ones.

I have two other 1:12 GMP C-5R Vettes, but I'll put them on eBay in 2009 since I have similar liveries in 1:18 by AutoArt.

Sergey

Н-дааа.......Corvette просто awesome :)

Yes it is. It is also extremely heavy. I'll try to take some pics of it in the future. I have heard that upcoming GMP 1:18 Ferrari P4 should have the same level of detail. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Mm...heavy models...I like that!! By the way that's why I can't say that AutoArt models are my favorite...yea, they're very cool done but I'd prefer more heavy models such as Minichamps for example... :) :)

If no obvious shortcuts taken like plastic undersides, for me the lighter the model the better.. If you take a look at EXOTO models they are very lights compared to their equivalents. In short, if properly done, the light weight is indicative of better engineering and higher quality of materials used.

After a 60 hour week week accompanied by a nasty case of flu, I've finally found time to open a few packages that I've got this week. So, with one post per parcel let me begin:

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/750/mclarenf1gtrmvrixo1hi0.jpg

McLaren F1 GTR "MVR"

FIA GT Championship 1997 #19

Team: Martin Veyhle Racing

Drivers: Gerd Ruch / Alexander Burgstaller / Sandy Grau

limited on 1,000 pieces

specials: big rear wing, air intake outside, special box,

racing interior (comprising roll cage, fire extinguisher, racing seat, red harnesses ...)

manufacturer: IXO

BMW M3 (E30) "Lease Plan"

World Touring Car Championship 1987 #48

Winner of Spa 24-hrs race

Team: CiBiEmme

Drivers: Eric van de Poele / Jean-Michel Martin / Didier Theys

limited on 1,000 pieces

manufacturer: IXO

Very underwhelming models. It looks like the basis for these cars was Altaya/IXO Jr., and not the "genuine" IXO.

If the US peso will continue to plunge deeper vs. Euro, I might flog them off on eBay.

Regards,

Sergey

Package #2. Another four 1:43 models

Minichamps doesn't disappoint:

Panhard PL17 #174 M.Martin-R.Batteau Winner Rally Monte Carlo 1961

Well at least it didn't cost me too much (about $15USD shipped)

And now ladies and gentlemen, one of the best if not the best IXO 1:43 model. Every Rally Car models collector should have one:

Fiat Punto S2000 #1 "Yacco/IXO Models" F.Duval Winner Condroz Rally 2007

An absolute stunner.

Thank you Minichamps for keeping an eye out for my wallet. I'm a sucker for vintage rally racers, but it looks like, this will be the only one in my collection. While the exterior is very nicely executed, the level of interior detailing is a lot to be desired to say nothing of the plastic which is more suited to $.99 toys than high end collectible.

And now, probably the best 1:18 scale model very few people heard off.

It's... 1:18 Speed Sport TFH - fully detailed diecast collectible. Owned by Lou & Marianne Osman of St. Louis, MO. Current 2005 IHBA World Champion, current IHBA record holder 4.70 ET 255 MPH. Fastest boat recorder at 4.64 ET 258 MPH. Driver John Haas and tuned by world famous Amos Satterlee Race engines.

I let pictures do the talking, but the level of detail and execution in Bad Ass Diecast Models is about on par with the best of Precision Miniatures, GMP, etc. Minichamps, AutoArt, Kyosho, etc are licking their wounds and going home with no medals.

Still not convinced? Check out the reviews of other boats in this series here: _http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/list_reviews/xq/ASP/manufacturer.GMP/classification.Drag+Boats/searchScale.1%3A18/qx/reviewresults.htm (you'll need to copy / paste since this link is dynamic).

Sergey

  • 2 months later...

That mclaren is nice, even with 1/43 aint my choice..

Boat detail is awsome! At first i thought that it is one remote controlled with consumption engine. U'know, engine seems functioning:)

P.S. Is Bad Ass Diecast actual brand name?
